P.S. - If Houston needs to "check in" to a camp site maybe he should get a hotel.
I loved Moonlight Oasis, Heather was very kind and extremely clear with instructions on how to get to the spot for self camping. I would say she even went out of her way to help me. Just like I wanted Moonlight Oasis was way out of the way from everything. I will admit the drive up was a little scary but the roads aren't crowded like in Zion National Park. When you get up to the camp site there is NOTHING UP there so I would say for sure come prepared with all of the camping essentials.
This place is great! A buddy and I planned to visit Zion. When booking reservations found lodging to be a bit of an issue, until we found this place. The communication with the owners was great. They gave perfectly clear directions via e-mail communications on how to get to the self-camp area and how to go about finding a campsite. (Literally it's pretty much you make your own) And they make it VERY clear to get there early to scope out a good spot before dark. Because you can't see a thing when it gets dark out there. It's also VERY clear that this is a working ranch, so to be surprised you find cow patties on the top of the mesa is kind of silly. Kick them out of the way and set up your tent. Provides great viewing for astro-photography. Had the opportunity to meet the man himself, Bill W. and I assume his grandson. Seemed like a real good dude when they came to talk with us at our campsite. I will DEFINITELY go back to this place to camp if I'm in the area.
I really loved this place. Really out of the way, away from the crowds. But still close enough to the park. Very quiet and private place. I loved the tent and they have a grill, propane, water, a cooler, utensils, extra blankets, etc. Great option for when you don't want to lug all your camping gear. Thanks Erica!
Beautiful place very interesting set up, no facilities and I didn't interact with a single staff member whole time. One of the coolest experiences I've had. The self camping is a little sketchy but I loved it on top of an awesome platue. A good amount of dried cow poop though but hey when you see the view you won't care
This campsite was great. Drove in, found a nice place to set up our tents and camped out. Views are amazing. Watching the sun rise and set over Zion is a view you have to see in person. Not to mention being able to see every star in the sky.
We ended up taking a ride with Bill, and that was the most amazing ride I've ever taken. The view's were unbelievable it's like you're the only person out there.
I would for sure tell anyone to visit that enjoys camping any being away from everything.
